I have been Director of AFHC since 2004, after a career in the public sector, initially in education where I was Head of Drama at a secondary school, before joining the NHS as a Schools Health Promotion Advisor. I then spent 18 years in the NHS in a variety of senior management roles, including 18 months as Acting Director of Public Health. I have a passion for all the arts, particularly literary and performing arts, and am currently studying for an MA in Literature having previously achieved an MA in 20th Art and Design History. My working roles have been characterised by an emphasis on partnership working to improve the lives of individuals and communities and to tackle inequalities and issues of social justice. Outside of work I enjoy having fun and food with family and friends and watching my beloved Aston Villa as much as possible.
