Older Persons Project

You may feel particularly passionate about one of our project areas; perhaps your mother or father has dementia and has benefited greatly from being creative, or you have experienced a period of depression and would love to help create more opportunities for people in Cornwall to experience healing through the arts.

Whatever your reason, we will make sure your donation is dedicated to your intended purpose. Our projects take place within the following categories into which your donation can be allocated:

Creating Healthy Environments
We work to improve the places in which people receive care and support to create a more therapeutic environment. There is increasing evidence regarding the impact of good design in health care settings leading to improvements in recovery times, staff satisfaction, doctor-patient relations and in reducing aggressive behaviour. Find out more about our Creating Healthy Environments projects.

Children and Young People
We provide creative opportunities for particularly vulnerable groups such as young people with psychosis, children with disabilities and their siblings, children and young people who are looked after by the local authority and young carers. Find out more about our Children and Young People projects.

Health Inequalities and Public Health
We work with a range of partners to address the needs of people and communities who are most vulnerable, such as people who are homeless. We develop creative approaches to important public health issues such as obesity, sexual health and climate change. Find out more about our Health Inequalities and Public Health projects.

Mental Health
Participation in creative activities can benefit people with a range of mental health needs, including those with significant mental health difficulties. We work in community and specialist mental health settings to deliver creative opportunities for people experiencing mental health problems. Find out more about our work supporting issues around mental health.

Older people
The arts can make a significant contribution to the health and well-being of older people by increasing confidence, mental well-being and self-esteem and reducing depression. They can also dramatically transform the lives of people with dementia.  We have a wide-ranging programme of work aimed at improving the quality of life of older people in the county. Find out more about our work with older people.

GP surgeries and hospitals
The GP surgery is the most-used health service, so it makes sense for us to look at how the arts can enhance primary care services and provide a greater menu of options of care and support for people with a range of health problems. Find out more about our work with GP surgeries and hostpitals.
