How do I leave a legacy to Arts for Health Cornwall?
Leaving a legacy is a straightforward and easy way to support our work. You just need to include a short paragraph in your will, but it is always advisable to be assisted by a solicitor when making any changes to your will.
What information should I include in my will?
We recommend that you include the following wording in your will if you wish to leave us a legacy:
I leave…. To Arts for Health Cornwall of Unit 7, Jubilee Wharf, Penryn, Cornwall, TR10 8FG, registered charity number 1088629.
What about my family and friends?
Of course we understand that your family and friends are likely to be the most important consideration when writing your will, but leaving a gift to a cause you are passionate about may also be something to consider.
Can I save on inheritance tax by leaving a legacy?
Currently, residents of the UK pay 40% tax on any assets that they inherit over the £325,000 threshold. If you leave a gift for a charity in your will then the gift is deducted before the value of the estate is calculated for tax.
This effectively means that if your estate is worth over £325,000, a gift to a charity in your will is worth 40% more than leaving the same amount to a person.

Do I have enough to leave a legacy?
Leaving a legacy is about declaring your support for a particular cause. The size of the gift that you leave is not important. You may wish to specify a particular amount in your will (ie £500) or leave a percentage of your estate, either way the most important thing is specifying an amount that you feel comfortable with, and we will always honour your intentions for this gift.
