Lead artist Helen Tanner has run a number of different art groups and activities at the Health Centre. These have included a 'Create and Nurture group' for mothers suffering from post natal depression or in need of extra support to explore the issues and challenges of motherhood,
a speech and language group for children with speech and language difficulties,
an exhibition of photography of the local area in times gone by, along with writer Amanda White documenting peoples memories of the area, which took place alongside the health centre's flu clinic...
A Christmas 'Ice Cave' installation in the Health Centre
Waiting area, which was created by Ellie Malone.
Patients were invited to write their Christmas wishes and hopes
onto stars and circles and then hang them as part of the decorations...
An 'Elders textile group' who are creating a large textile piece for the waiting area of Pool Health Centre entitled "Sense of Place", based on the photographs of the local area and words collected at the Flu Clinic...
And finally, the creation of a mosaic to mark the entrance to the Health Centre, that was formed from staff and patients design ideas. This was then created on the 3rd July 2007 when a gazebo was erected outside the surgery. Patients and staff then took part in piecing together the mosaic, which now brightens up the exterior of the Health Centre and has received very positive feedback.
