‘The Sun Princess’ was a theatre in education performance piece which was presented at four schools in July 2006. Funded by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Commissioning Group this partnership project between AFHC, effervescent theatre and the Early Intervention Service involved working with a group of young people over a two-week period to devise and rehearse a piece of theatre exploring an important mental health issue – psychosis in young people.

The final piece was exhilarating and powerful using a wide range of film and music effects. We are hoping to find further funding to tour the piece again as many more schools were interested than we were able to accommodate. The partnership is now considering how to progress this work further as the young people involved have expressed great desire to continue to develop opportunities such as this.
