We are an innovative and exciting organisation to work for, with a reputation for excellence. Our practitioners are extremely important to us, and form the basis of our work as an organisation.
We always offer advice and support to practitioners working on our projects, and welcome feedback and advice from them in return. As a continually evolving organisation, the input we receive from practitioners often informs our next steps forward.
Practical information:
Contracts
All practitioners working for us are issued with a contract which sets out the details of the project they are working on and the terms on which we will be working together. The contract will also state the fees payable and when to invoice us.
Fees and Payments
We always state the total project fee payable for all opportunities. The details of how this fee will be paid to you will be set out in your contract; this may be in one or more instalments depending on the project size and/or duration.
We pay Arts Council recommended rates to our practitioners, which are currently £25 per hour or £175 per day.
Expenses
AFHC project fees include an allowance for travel to and from the place of work. When an artist or practitioner is employed to work in an area over 30 miles from their home, they may claim back mileage (at 30p per mile) for those additional miles using our travel claim form. If travelling by public transport, expenses incurred over £18 per return journey are refundable (tickets should be attached to the travel claim form).
Materials expenses may or may not be included in the project fee – this will be specified in the vacancy description. Where materials expenses are not included, the artist/practitioner must keep all relevant receipts and attach these to a completed Materials claim form.
